Diving or Snorkeling in Kicker Rock: a unique spot in the Galapagos Islands
Diving or snorkeling at Kicker Rock in San Cristobal is probabbly one of the most famous tours in the Galapagos Islands and it definetly deserves it. In order to dive in Kicker Rock you need to be in possesion of the PADI license. If you do not have the license, won´t worry much about it. Kicker Rock is an area where several marine especies rest at no high depth. Practicing snorkel you will enjoy as much as diving.
The tour begins early in the morning at Baquerizo Moreno port, at 8 or 9 am. During 45 minutes of navigation we will sail around 18 kilometers away from the land, bordering San Cristobal Island. During the journey, you will see multiple birds overfliying rocks: blue footed boobies, pelicans, frigates so to ention some of them.
The main interest of this tour is the amount of sealife surrounding you while you stay in this spectacular spot. When we reach the kicker rock, we will prepare the diving or snorkel equipment, ans start swimming into the middle of the two big montains in the middle of the sea that compose Kicker Rock. Once there, plenty of fishes of every colour, hammerhead shark, galapagos sharks, rays and sea lions will be surrounding you.
An amazing experience difficult to express with words.
Rest and relax at El Manglecito Beach
After an intense snorkeling session, you will be happy to know there is also space for relaxing in this tour. Our second stop is a wonderful beach called El Manglecito. There you can lay on the sand along with some sea lions and enjoy the view, the beach and the unique vegetation around you.
Best way to end a tour that has contrasting experiences: from the excitement of being near big sharks to the relax of liyng in a paradisiacal beach.
